How To Measure Pipe for Commercial & House Units (Click HERE to download a PDF Document of these instructions)

FOR COPPER, PEX, OR CPVC PIPE:

1. Find the OUTSIDE CIRCUMFERENCE of the pipe you will be installing the pipe on by wrapping a piece of paper
around the outside of the pipe, marking where it overlaps, then removing the paper and measuring it’s length in
inches from tic mark to tic mark.
Write that number here: ______________

2. Divide the resulting measurement from Step 1 (the circumference) by 3.14
Write that number here: ________________
If the resulting number is between .5 and .75 then order a ½” unit.
If the resulting number is between .75 and 1.0 then order a ¾’ unit.
If the resulting number is between 1.0 and 1.25 then order a 1” unit.
If the resulting number is between 1.25 and 1.5 then order a 1 ¼” unit.
If the resulting number is between 2. and 2.25 then order a 2” unit.

FOR PVC PIPE:

3. Now deduct .25 from the resulting number in Step 2. (for standard Schedule 40 PVC pipe)
Write that number here: ____________________
